About UESTC

   Renowned as the cradle of China's national electronic industry, University of Electronic Science and Technology of China (UESTC) is located at Chengdu, the city of over a thousand-year-old cultural history in "the land of abundance". In 1956, under the guidance of Premier Zhou Enlai, UESTC was founded on the basis of the incorporation of electronic divisions of the then three universities including Jiaotong Universities, Nanjing Institute of Technology and South China Institute of Technology. UESTC became one of the nation's key universities in 1960. Then, in 1997 it was included as one of the first universities into "Project 211", a project in China for developing 100 first-class universities and a number of key fields of research for the 21st century. In 2001, UESTC was admitted into the nation's Project 985, receiving special support for developing world-class universities and world-famous research-oriented universities. In 2017, the University was selected as one of "Double First-class" universities (Top 36). 

About IMD group

    Led by Prof. Hongxing XU and Prof. Zhiming WANG, the IMD group has established strong collaboration with tens of universities and research institutions from Europe, North America and Australia, to support the joint research projects of postdoctoral and graduate students. 
Our research interests include semiconductor optoelectronic materials and devices, plasmon photonics, advanced energy materials and devices, flexible electronics, nanoelectronics, thermoelectric materials, surface science, and theoretical simulation etc. 
    Thanks to the projects of National Key Research and Development Program of China, National Basic Research Program (Program 973), National Natural Science Foundation of China, Programs for Foreign Talent, Sichuan International Science and Technology Cooperation Base Program etc., the IMD group has undertaken numerous prestigious projects with a total funding exceeding 70 million RMB. To date, our group has carried out innovative research in these fields with publication in prestigious journals including Science, Nature, Nature Nanotechnology, Nature Photonics, Nature Communications, Science Advances, Advanced Materials, Advanced Energy Materials, Nano Letter and PANS etc.

1. World-class Faculty Position

Qualifications

Achieved systematic and creative accomplishments in the fields of natural sciences or engineering and technology, made significant contributions, and have broad international academic influence, such as being a recipient of internationally renowned awards, an academician of a developed country, or an internationally recognized top expert at a comparable level.
Compensation and Benefits

Negotiable on a case-by-case basis, with competitive compensation and supporting resources comparable to those offered by leading universities and research institutions.

2. Academic Leadership Talent

Qualifications

Experts or scholars holding positions equivalent to professor or associate professor at internationally renowned universities or research institutions, with profound academic expertise. They should have made significant academic achievements in their research fields recognized by international peers, possess the ability to surpass or lead international advanced levels, and be capable of leading academic teams in collaborative research efforts.
Compensation and Benefits
(1)Research Start-up Funds: Amount negotiated on a case-by-case basis, depending on the discipline and specific needs. The position of professor (with permanent faculty status) will be granted, along with the qualification to supervise doctoral students, priority for directed graduate student allocation, and preference for postdoctoral recruitment. Laboratory and office space will be provided according to needs.
(2)Annual Salary: Starting from 900,000 RMB (with a dynamic growth mechanism), plus a housing fund and social security contribution of 120,000 RMB paid by the university, as well as high-level achievement bonuses (no upper limit).
(3)Settlement Allowance: A maximum of 3.5 million RMB (paid after the full-time position is taken up, with the option to purchase a property of over 200 square meters near the university). One year of free temporary accommodation (fully furnished) and relocation travel subsidies.

Priority for National and Provincial-Level Projects: Priority support for applying to national and provincial-level research projects, with assistance in forming academic teams based on research needs.
(5) Special Support Policies: Enjoy tax incentives, assistance with spouse relocation, pension and healthcare benefits, and preferential policies for children's schooling.
(6)Health and Medical Services: Access to expert-level physical examinations at top domestic hospitals, as well as other high-level medical services.

3. Young Talent

Qualifications

Applicants should be under the age of 40 and hold a doctoral degree. Generally, they should have held a formal teaching or research position at overseas universities, research institutions, or corporate R&D organizations, with at least 36 months of continuous work experience. If the applicant obtained their doctoral degree abroad and has particularly outstanding achievements, the work experience requirement may be relaxed. Applicants who have not yet fully returned to work in China or have not been back for more than one year are eligible. After receiving the funding notification, applicants must resign from their overseas position or be unemployed abroad, and commit to working full-time in China for no less than three years.

Compensation and Benefits

(1) Research Funding: 2 to 6 million RMB (including national funding; some research platforms may offer total support of 5 to 9 million RMB). The position of professor (senior-level, with permanent faculty status) will be granted, along with the qualification to supervise doctoral students, priority for directed graduate student allocation, and preference for postdoctoral recruitment. Office and laboratory space will be provided.

(2) Basic Annual Salary: 600,000 RMB + housing fund and social security contribution of 100,000 RMB paid by the university, as well as high-level achievement bonuses (no upper limit).

(3) Settlement Allowance: 2.2 million RMB (including national and local support) + one year of free temporary accommodation (fully furnished) + relocation travel subsidies.

(4) Priority for Talent Plans and Projects: Priority support for applying to various national and local talent programs or projects.

(5) Special Support Policies: Assistance with spouse relocation, pension and healthcare benefits, and preferential policies for children's schooling.

(6) Health and Medical Services: Access to expert-level physical examinations at top domestic hospitals, as well as other high-level medical services.

4. Talent Pool

Qualifications

(1)Applicants should hold a doctoral degree and have demonstrated strong potential in their academic research field, standing out as top talent among their peers, with the potential to become academic leaders in their discipline.

(2) For candidates in the fields of science and engineering, the age should generally not exceed 35 years.

Compensation and Benefits

(1)Research Funding: 500,000 to 1 million RMB (for science and engineering fields), based on discipline-specific needs. The position of professor (distinguished) or researcher (distinguished) will be granted (both senior-level, with permanent faculty status), along with the qualification to supervise doctoral students.

(2) Basic Annual Salary: 420,000 RMB + the university’s contribution to five insurances and one housing fund, approximately 100,000 RMB/year, plus high-level achievement bonuses (no upper limit).

(3)600,000 RMB + relocation travel subsidies.

5. Full-Time Postdoctoral Fellows

Qualifications

Applicants should be under the age of 35 and have obtained a doctoral degree or have successfully defended their doctoral dissertation. 

(1) Research Funding: Generally between 220,000 to 300,000 RMB per year. For those selected for various postdoctoral talent programs, funding will be 300,000 to 400,000 RMB per year. If selected for national programs such as the "Postdoctoral Innovation Program" or the "National Recruitment Program," the funding will be no less than 400,000 RMB per year (all pre-tax, excluding the employer’s contribution to the five insurances and one housing fund).

(2) Accommodation: The university provides free postdoctoral apartments or housing subsidies.
